5 romantic Valentine's Day ideas that don't require a lot of money

Valentine's Day is a day to celebrate love and all that it encompasses, but it's also a great opportunity to show your special someone that they really matter to you. And while many people think that asking for your loved one's hand on Valentine's Day is very banal, it is actually the most banal and silly moments that turn out to be the biggest surprises. Plus, it's easier to remember your engagement date when it coincides with Valentine's Day.

So if you're ready to take the next big step in your relationship, why not think about one of the greatest extensions of love - proposing marriage? With one or more of these five romantic Valentine's Day proposal ideas, give your loved one a gift that will make this day so special they will remember it forever. Sometimes you don't even need a lot of money to do it, and the result can still be great.

Surprise your loved one with a spa day - it's a great way to start Valentine's Day. Want to show your loved one even more attention? Then create your own spa atmosphere from the comfort of your home. While your partner is away, prepare the bedroom and arrange rose petals in the shape of a heart or in his name on the bed. You can also place a bouquet of flowers and your favourite cup of tea or glass of wine on the bedside table. Next, run a warm bath and add some soothing bath salts and then surround the bath with your favourite scented candles (just keep flammable objects (washcloths, etc.) away from the candles). When your loved one gets home, you can joke that you want them to be completely relaxed before the stresses of life with you. As you pull out the ring, tell them how you feel and say, "I want the warmth you give me to keep me warm for the rest of my life".

This engagement idea is very simple. It allows you to immerse yourself in the story of you and your love, capturing the places and moments that have shaped you as a couple. You can take yourself back to your first memories together, whether it's a dance floor, a high school car park, a shop, a club or even the place where your first date took place. Take a tour of these places and reflect on how they helped you get to know and love each other. Then pull up to a new café or restaurant that you've never been to before but you've booked a table at. Your partner may ask: "Why are we here?" or "I don't know this place". This is a sign for you to take out your engagement ring and say: "I hope this will be our new favourite memory... where we celebrated our first dinner together as engaged couples." All that's left to do is to say "I do", hug and celebrate the start of this exciting new phase together.

Nothing says "I love you" like getting out of your comfort zone. Sometimes this can mean cooking a romantic dinner, especially if cooking is something you rarely do. With thousands of cookbooks on the internet and YouTube "how-to" videos, making your partner's favourite meal is a thoughtful way to show them that you're willing to go the extra mile just to make them happy. Of course, you could also just make some simple snacks with aphrodisiac properties, such as oysters or chocolate-covered strawberries. When your loved one sees the effort you have made to make your evening together truly special, kneel down and tell him that you are willing to do anything to be with him forever.

And what can compare to a romantic movie night with popcorn, soft drinks and packets of coloured gum. Just dim the lights, grab a blanket and turn on your favourite romantic movie. Films can connect us because they reflect how we treat and see the other important people in our lives. Why not use this as inspiration? At the climax of the film, recite the lines spoken by the protagonist as he declares his love for his partner. At the end of the monologue, pause the film and, turning to your love, say that you think you can do a better job of conveying what the actor wanted to say, kneel down and talk about your feelings (you may have prepared a speech beforehand, but most of the time it is overwhelming to just speak from the heart), hold out the box with the ring, and say "Do you have the same feelings and are you willing to marry me?".

Some people are big on attention and partying, so instead of celebrating as a couple, why not turn February 14 into a huge surprise party for your partner? Explain how your friends and family wanted to celebrate your love for each other by telling them "We had to surprise you somehow, didn't we?". You can enjoy delicious food, fun games and maybe even karaoke, where you'll have the chance to sing a ballad that embodies your feelings. After the song, propose marriage in front of your loved ones, ending with the words: "They say that when you marry someone, you marry your family, right?" Then enjoy the cheers and applause of the crowd when you hear the resounding "Yes". All the more reason to celebrate, because the more people around you means the more photos or videos you'll have of this wonderful moment.

However you decide to get engaged, one thing is a must - an engagement ring, which should be taken care of in advance. So, first of all, try to find out the size of your loved one's ring to avoid a situation where the ring doesn't fit. If you cannot or do not want to cause suspicion, ask your family or friends for help. Secondly, pay attention to what kind of jewellery your other half likes, whether it is modest, simple or massive, or maybe with a unique design. Once you've done your homework, go to www.pasipuosk.lt and choose the right engagement ring for your loved one. It's quick and easy.

We wish you all a happy "I do".
