Benefits of jewellery

How can jewellery help us?

Men often like to joke that all women have a disease called jewellery. But in reality, the right jewellery can be a cure, not a disease. We are convinced that jewellery can heal and connect people.

Of course, we can all feel strong, loved and connected just by existing and breathing. No material object can replace inner peace, true love and closeness. But sometimes physical objects, like loved ones and experiences, can have a special power to give us certain feelings and help us find inner contentment. This is especially important in these times when it is not always physically possible to meet loved ones, when we are going through a period of quarantine or self-isolation.

Jewellery can remind us of our loved ones and take us back to our memories.

A gift given to us is a constant reminder of its giver. When we have a special piece of jewellery given to us by a loved one, every time we wear it or even see it among our belongings, we think of that person. We remember the moment we received the jewellery, what was said, how we felt - all the love and closeness comes flooding back each time. Of course, jewellery is no substitute for physical touch, a hug or a kiss, but it is a pleasant and really strong reminder of that connection. And it doesn't have to be an engagement ring, because you can give a chain or pendant when a baby is born, earrings for graduation or an anniversary, a pendant with a letter of your name, and many other pieces of jewellery that have a personal meaning.

Jewellery connects us to other people, strengthens our bond, expresses love and support.

Perhaps you have a class ring that symbolises your connection to your classmates and your alma mater?  Maybe you wear matching pendants or bracelets with your sisters, mother or grandmother? Maybe you gave your daughter a pendant with the word "love" on it?

Every piece of jewellery can become a small symbol of love, given to us by a loved one to remind us of our family ties and love. This is important because such a piece of jewellery will always remain precious, no matter what happens. It's amazing how even one small piece of silver or gold can remind you that there are so many people around you who love you and support you strongly.

When we feel supported, we can be bold enough to pursue our dreams and believe that the world will help us too.

Jewellery makes us feel renewed and desirable.

Sometimes we women just feel ugly. Or fat. Or unattractive in other ways. Or just tired or bored, unhappy with our appearance, stuck in a rut. Jewellery (like shoes or a new hairstyle!) has the power to make us feel desirable again, to give us confidence. That feeling of being beautiful on the outside can often give us the little boost we need to feel better on the inside. This is the 'fake it till you make it' mindset - a small item that gives us confidence can help us reconnect with our inner world.

When we feel good and confident, we pass it on to everyone around us, and the day becomes brighter.

Jewellery is rewarding and empowering.

Increasingly, it is jewellery that is being given to recognise people's achievements and to remind them how powerful and strong their determination and perseverance are. Presidential and military awards honour people with badges and medals. Olympic medals are awarded to the best athletes. The Inspiring Women Project awards a silver chain around the neck to those who do good things for their families and communities. The fight against cancer has long made pink ribbon pendants and brooches a symbol for itself, encouraging women to speak up, "stand strong, fight and win this important life battle ('I Will Stand Strong. I Will Fight. I Will Win')".

Celebrating major achievements, such as graduating from school, having a baby, getting a promotion at work, or achieving other goals, with a piece of jewellery is a great way to constantly remind us to be proud of our abilities and to not be afraid to talk about them, thus encouraging others to achieve their own goals. Every time we wear this piece of jewellery, we know that we can do anything we set our minds to.

When we feel strong and capable, we can challenge ourselves to do even more and improve not only our own lives, but the world.

Jewellery reminds us of our roots

Perhaps you inherited your grandmother's pearls or your mother's wedding ring? Every time a piece of jewellery is passed down from one generation to the next, it carries with it the stories and emotions associated with our ancestors. Whether it's an old piece of jewellery that's been repurposed or an original heirloom, the history in jewellery is a powerful reminder of where we come from and the people who made us who we are.

When we feel connected to our past, we face our future with greater courage.

Jewellery heals and helps us achieve our goals

Many people believe that natural elements, including metals and precious stones, have healing properties. Gold is believed to have anti-inflammatory, anti-ageing and calming properties. Silver is used to promote strength and endurance and to fight infections and disease. Precious stones have long been believed to have great and intense power, helping the wearer to solve many problems. Rose quartz is known to open the heart to love and trust. Emeralds will help you to be loyal, heart-centred and make decisions out of love and compassion. Rubies are believed to evoke passion, confidence, adventure and courage.

And even if you think the idea of the healing power of stones and metals is complete nonsense, you can still try, because having a constant reminder of your goal will certainly make it easier to move towards it.
