Body piercings and piercing
The custom of body piercing, which dates back to ancient times, is almost as old as the art of tattooing. The human body has always been regarded by many as a canvas that can be decorated and altered. This has been the case in different cultures and even in different periods of history. The earliest known evidence of body piercing is a stone relief from Nimrud, Iraq, depicting a man with a pierced ear. It dates from around the 9th century BC. In addition, the world's oldest mummified body did indeed have an ear piercing measuring 7-11 mm in diameter. This body has been shown to be more than 5000 years old.
Body piercing and tattooing are common in many cultures around the world. Of course, it is primarily a body adornment art of tribes in warm countries where people did not wear much clothing. Body jewellery is a particularly popular form of body decoration and self-fulfilment. Earrings in the navel, tongue, nose or other parts of the body are accessories that not only adorn, but also say a lot about a person's personality and attitude to life. In many cultures, earrings have been used to indicate membership of a tribe or clan, to indicate status or social position, to increase attractiveness, to make enemies look fierce or even to symbolically express a rite of passage. Earrings on various parts of the body are more commonly known as pirsing. The piercing has long been considered a symbol of distinction and silver or gold piercing earrings are the perfect choice for taking care of one's exceptional beauty. Piercing has always had a cultural and individual meaning and significance.
Therefore, body piercings will continue to be a popular body adornment, but it is important to take proper care of your piercings to avoid infections, rashes, skin reactions, etc. It is also important to make sure that they heal properly so that you have a healthy, well-cared-for earring.
Here are some tips to keep in mind if you want to wear your earrings in different parts of your body:
Keep the earring clean
This is the most important rule of piercing. Make sure you wash your hands before you start piercing. Earrings can be cleaned with a suitable saline solution, warm water and/or a strong dilution of liquid soap. When getting a new earring, it is always better to take a shower for a while rather than a bath, as bacteria are more likely to accumulate in the bath.
Avoid harsh chemicals
Avoid strong cleansers or strongly perfumed soaps, as well as Betadine®, Hibiciens®, alcohol or hydrogen peroxide. Many of the ear piercing or piercing care solutions available in the supermarket contain these chemicals, but should still be avoided. Plain warm water or saline is really enough. If you do buy a cleaning solution, make sure you read the label and know exactly what it contains and how to use it properly.
Store jewellery properly
Allow the body to heal around the pierced body jewellery and hold it until the piercing has healed. You will soon be able to replace the jewellery, but before you replace the body jewellery you must make sure that your body has accepted the new piercing properly and that it has healed completely. The piercing cavity tends to close up quite quickly after the jewellery is removed, so it is recommended to wear body piercings regularly, just take good care and always check the piercing cavity for dirt build-up and skin changes.
Follow the instructions given by the specialist
Different piercing procedures have different aftercare rules. We recommend that you only get your piercings done by a professional who will be sure to give you guidance on how to properly care for your newly evaluated earrings. Make sure you follow their instructions so that you can enjoy your new body adornment sooner.
Be patient
It takes some time for the piercing site to heal after piercing, so your piercing won't look the way you want it to right away. The most important thing to remember after getting a piercing is that you have to be patient to achieve the results you want.
And most importantly, if you notice any worrying signs (a growing wound, spreading rash, etc.), make sure you consult your piercing specialist or dermatologist.
