Tips for wearing ankle/leg bracelets

Leg chains/bracelets are a wonderful piece of jewellery, especially in summer. They can spice up almost any casual outfit and make it more unique. If you already have a few anklets in your jewellery box, you are in luck.

If you don't have any anklets on your feet yet, you're also lucky, because that means you can choose the ones you like best.

Before you start adorning yourself with beautiful leg/ankle bracelets, make sure you know some tips on how to wear them. Doing so will help you get the most out of these beautiful pieces of jewellery.

Choosing right or left ankle

One of the main questions that people who want to wear chains on their feet face is which ankle is better to wear the bracelet on. In today's world, it doesn't matter which ankle you wear your chain on. It's a matter of which one you prefer, on which one you are more comfortable and feel better wearing it.

Choosing the position (length) of the chain

Once you have decided which ankle you prefer for your chain, you should pay attention to its position. Never wear the chain on anything other than bare skin. We strictly do not recommend wearing chains on tights, slingshots or other types of trousers.

Wear the chain only on bare legs, but you can wear the bracelet under jeans or other trousers. As long as you don't put the bracelet on top of your trousers, you are doing the right thing.

Some people choose to wear the bracelet loosely on their ankles, letting it rest gently on the top of their feet. However, such loose chains can get in the way, move around too much (e.g. when walking) and are not comfortable, so others opt for a more snug fit and fasten it firmly around the ankles (just don't overdo it so that the chain doesn't 'cut' the leg). But of course, the final decision is yours.

Choosing the type of chain

Gold chains on the leg are the perfect accessory for mature women. Gold toe bracelets are usually worn in formal settings and on special occasions. This is because gold is generally considered a luxury jewellery material and gold chains are often set with precious stones, so there is a risk of breakage or loss when wearing such a chain every day. If you wear other gold jewellery such as earrings, rings, etc., then you should also choose a gold chain.

Beaded chains are another great choice. Remember that there is a time and a place for every type of chain. If you choose to wear a colourful beaded leg chain, you can match it with playful casual slippers or slip-on summer sandals. Beaded chains are the perfect accessory for a casual outfit on holiday or for a day at the beach/pool.

Silver bracelets are a good choice for slightly younger women. As we mentioned, a gold anklet is for a more sophisticated setting, while a silver anklet is for a more relaxed setting, even for everyday wear. They are easy to match with summer sandals or sandals, as well as sports shoes. However, they can also be worn with platform shoes or high heels. If you wear other silver jewellery such as earrings, rings, etc., you should also choose a silver bracelet.

You can also opt for 'Charm' bracelets. You can wear these chains on your leg with almost any outfit. You can choose from a wide range of charm bracelets with feathers, butterfly, heart, wing-shaped charms and so on. Just keep in mind that these bracelets can be a bit more clingy and get in the way (e.g. if you are wearing a longer skirt or dress).

If you want to spice up the look a bit, consider wearing two chains (the same or different) on the same ankle. Especially if you're tired of wearing one and want something new, but don't feel like buying a new bracelet yet. Remember that it is best to combine two thin anklets rather than two thick anklets. Also, if the chains you have are thin enough, you can even wear several anklets that overlap or are different lengths. This is all the more so now that bracelets made of two or more chains are commercially available.

A few tips before you start wearing bracelets/bracelets on your leg

Remember that the bracelet you choose should always be matched to the outfit you are wearing.  Also, take care of your feet and toes/legs before putting on an ankle bracelet. Wearing such a bracelet always draws attention to this area and you will want to have nice looking feet to show off.

You should also consider wearing anklets only when you are not at work. If you work in an office and are required to wear formal attire, then ankle chains may not be the right choice.

Nowadays, some jewellery shops even offer very sophisticated leg chains that are worn on the thigh instead of the ankle, but these bracelets are basically only for young girls who want to enhance their sexuality.

If you still don't have a chain on your leg and would like to buy one, go to and choose the one you like best.
